The Weekend Catch

Watched few things, but the most impressive was Felix Baumgartner jumping from space. That was epic and very different! Kudos to you Mr Baumgartner! You all have seen this cool jump so there is no need to insert any videos here. Go to Youtube and search for him. and next time don’t miss a historical moment!

To the movies, so watched a few flicks during this weekend and overall it was a good weekend for movies. I wanted to watch Intouchables again but I was convinced to watch some Romantic Comedies…

To Rome with Love is directed by a perpetually neurotic Woody Allen and starring by lots of people (Penelope Cruz and her breasts, Jesse Jewfro Eisenberg, Ellen alwaysbabbling Page, Alec Baldwin and Roberto Benigni).

Yes, it feels like I’ve seen this film before, especially when I’ve seen Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Midnight in Paris and many other similar ones. But you know what, they are all pleasant to watch and really take your mind out of your real life and give a nice comedy in to your afternoon. It is also a great marketing campaign for Rome and idealizes the city in the most glittery way possible, I wonder if that’s how he chooses his shooting locations, which city pays him the most. But it is funny and has a different attitude to it.

Woody Allen’s character is exactly the same as in all of his movies, neurotic and all over the place but manages to  pull off some crazy things type of a guy. And what is up with the way he wears his trousers!!! Its the other characters that make this film good and in particular Roberto Benigni! Oh Roberto! I love this guy and would be forever happy to get a chance to drink a beer with him!

He, Benigni, is playing a fairly normal guy who suddenly becomes famous for no reason thus clearly criticising the current celebrity society. The media follows him everywhere and asks him very stupid questions, normal to junk journalists, like “what did you have for breakfast today” and “what are you wearing”. The journalists are all over him until they find a another person to harass. Nice one!

This character and his particular way of receiving the celebrity status was the best part of the film and if you pay attention you can see why it was made and you can notice if you have similar junk/trash celebrities in your country, I know plenty of these in my country…

Overall a good film and really entertaining. Great for a rainy or cold Sunday afternoons. Watch this with a great screen (larger than 32″ with a live or full color setting), have some drinks around and then be prepared to buy tickets to Rome. As Penelope Cruz doesn’t speak in English it makes this film even better! Alec Baldwin’s character is great and Jesse Eisenberg with Ellen Page are just about ok…

Seeking a friend for the end of the world Starring Steve Carrell and Keira – abnormal lips – Knightley, this is a different kind of a Apocalyptic movie. Bottomline, the world is ending soon and the characters know it. So each of them do something strange and out of ordinarary. I love the concept! It’s really different and makes you think about what would you do. I would steal a Ferrari and drive it as fastest I can and then park it in a middle of a big grocery shop. Then I would walk naked everywhere and pick a fight with a gang of high school kids, I’d get dressed for that one. Also, I would want to fight a politician and then steal a cow. That cow would be mine. Anyways, what would you do?

The film is ok, but it could be SO much better. Why? Because Steve Carrell gives a yet another boring performance, similar to Something is Wrong with Dan, and makes the viewer wonder what the hell are we stuck with this guy for? Why is the main character so boring!?! I would want to see a character that goes insane! Keira’s character doesn’t help at all. Basically the story concept is great and the ending is great, the rest sucks horse balls.

TV SHOW – Revolution

This is my first TV show review here and I will dedicate a entire section for it later.

Revolution has a magnificent concept: Suddenly the world’s electricity stops working and people need to go back to basics. BOOM! Think about it hard, what if NOW, your electricity would just stop and there is nothing you could do about it. What would you do? Seriously this one is such a great subject that it has made me think about it ever since I saw the first episode on Thursday.

Your car, computer, phone (omg, omg!!), your dog, TV, shops couldn’t stock cold food, fridges wont work (no more cold beer!!!), planes, trains and banks wouldn’t work. So yeah, start preparing for that!

There are 4 episodes out for this NBC series but it doesn’t look like it might make it so hurry up and watch them episodes! Why it won’t be making the end of the year revision? Three words: The Main character. She sucks. If this character was bit older and fearless with no mercy attitude, we would like her more. But she has way too many emotions and I can see many Terra Nova shit coming through. Man THAT series sucked big time and look where it is now (graveyard). I think Steven Spielberg has something to do with this one, hope its not true because lately in everything he touches turns to cheese oozing turdburger.

However, the first two episodes are great. Pure genius. The rest two are not so good. The 4th one you just want to skip over. Hope it picks up.

  2. I agree!. I am a highschool teacher and all my students were talking about it. They were very excited about this, so much that Science has become a cool interesting subject for our students! The Physics teacher was delighted with all the commentries the kids were making. In fact it could be said that this crazy adventure has had great positive influence on our teenagers!
